Default Idea:Drop down menu to choose town to load into

Im not sure how hard or simple this would be but its an idea I had the other day. So here it is.

When you login and you pick your character, it knows what location you are in. Could they add a drop down menu where it says your location so you could pick where to spawn?

I feel this would be a good addition. Some would say its lazy, trust me ive thought it myself. But being lazy doesnt make it a bad idea. Lets discuss what we think. I know there are alot of more important things to tend to first but as a down the road idea what are your thoughts.

*edit* Id like to add my idea doesnt require the ability to load into "every" town/outpost but rather at least the port towns.

PS I checked the sticky and did use search twice to see if this has been brought up and I found nothing. If it has, please disreguard.

Read my mind, I've been wanting this myself. An example of when it would be convienient is with PUGing. It's happened to me a few times, I'l be at a mission say with my paragon, and suddenly I see a 7/8 party looking for a monk 2 do mission (which my monk needs). Now lets say my monk is in Droknar's Forge and the mission is Dzagonur Bastion in Elona. I tell the guy to please wait for me to fetch my monk. Then i log out, load up my monk, then map to Kamadan from Drok's, then map to Dzagonur Bastion.

You might not think that takes long, but i'm in South Africa & load times can take ages... so by the time i get there, he might have left alrdy or half the party rage quits cos they dont wanna have to take Mhenlo.

So yeah, the drop down "Spawn" outpost would be awesome (and NOT hard to implement I'm sure)

Andrew just said he has load time issues. While it may be great for those of us with a Ping of 235 or lower, there are people who have to wait a good 60 seconds to load a Town or Outpost. The people that think this sort of thing is "lazy" are the same people with a Ping of 100 or less. I think this would be very easy to program.

I have load time issues as well. Not automatically loading into d1-2 of kamadan would help a LOT.

Only thing with this is that the drop down menu will be quite large. There's quite a few towns to add.

Please take the time to read my OP, in the edit I stated that port towns only would suffice for my idea.

maybe also add "home towns". a check box next to the drop down list, "Always enter in this town".

i would love this and i would like it so when i switch maps i dont always have to go to one city first then have to go to another, i want to directly go to that city. Its a pain in the butt!

Yeah this would be cool
And the huge list problems? Just make tabs and collapsible menus to narrow down the number of towns to choose from. You could also have a town search if u needed. Anyway, this is a cool idea but definately not a necesity at this point. perhaps in a campaign or two
